Corporation Background

M2 Events & Consulting was formed in January 2000 with John R. Melleky as the President. The company is registered as a sole proprietorship. John Melleky is a 1985 graduate of the University of Richmond, with concentrations in Marketing and Management. While working as a programmer/analyst for such firms as EDS, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Reynolds Metals, John obtained an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University, with concentrations in Management and Information Systems.

After working in the technical realm of programming and analysis, John began a career as a fundraiser by working for United Way Services. In that capacity, John coordinated contributing campaigns and pledge processing for four large corporations. These campaigns raised over three million dollars in the 1996 campaign year including over $250,000 new dollars.

John then moved to the University of Richmond and served as the Director of Operations (Advancement Services). This latter position allowed John to craft skills in utilizing technology to meet fundraising goals and maintaining a large database of over 75,000 records. The department included a staff of four data entry persons, whom entered 85,000 changes per year, including 20,000 gifts totaling $16 million dollars. John served as the project for a software conversion from BSR Advance to SCT Banner. In this capacity he also analyzed and implemented procedures for all aspects of fundraising, including annual funds, prospect research, matching gifts, donor recognition, acknowledgement, planned gifts, and capital campaigns.

John has provided event management services for FORTUNE magazine for ten years for the FORTUNE 500 and FORTUNE Global Forums. He was on the team that initiated the FORTUNE CIO and CFO conferences. As a Past President and four year Board member of The Richmond Jaycees, John learned to manage an organization with over 400 members and a budget of $300,000.
